01The pilot and its operator
Pactling Academy is operated by Adam Wachter, based in Taiwan. “We” means the operator; “you” means the educator using an account. By creating or using an educator account, you agree to these terms. Contact support@pactlingacademy.com if you have questions before participating.
The current pilot is invitation-only for adult ESL educators in Taiwan. Use your own approved email address and accurate account information. An individual teacher invitation does not create a school-wide service agreement or authorize you to act for a school. Students participate through teacher-created logins; they are not purchasing customers and cannot open or manage educator accounts.
Approved pilot schools use a separate workspace with individual staff accounts. Only an authorized representative should request school access. Owners and admins manage school membership and class assignments; school records stay with that workspace when staff leave. Each school receives a pilot teaching allowance; this release does not collect payment for school access.
02Your classroom and student access
Use the service only for educational activities you are authorized to provide. Obtain any necessary school permission and parent or guardian authorization before entering real student data. Share the Privacy Notice in a form families can understand. Do not assume that accepting these terms supplies permission on behalf of a student or family.
Choose minimal student information, preferably a first name or classroom nickname. Keep login cards secure, supervise classroom activity and shared displays, and remove access when appropriate. You decide whether classroom powers, rewards, activities, and shared content are suitable for your learners; do not use them to deny essential learning opportunities or necessary accommodations.
You remain responsible for your teaching decisions and official school records. The operator remains responsible for the obligations that apply to operating the service, including handling personal data.
03Respectful and secure use
Protect your educator password and tell us promptly if an account may have been accessed without permission. Do not share an educator account with students.
- Do not harass others or upload unlawful, discriminatory, exploitative, or age-inappropriate content.
- Do not upload material you do not have permission to use, or unnecessary sensitive personal information.
- Do not access another teacher’s classroom, scrape student information, bypass access controls, or manipulate rewards using unauthorized requests.
- Do not disrupt the service or test security against other people’s data. Report suspected vulnerabilities privately through support.
04Your content and the Academy artwork
You retain the rights you have in your lessons and uploaded content. You give the operator permission to store, process, reproduce, and display that content only as needed to provide and support the service for your classroom, including the class sharing you use. This is not permission to sell your content or use student work in advertising.
Pactling Academy’s branding, creature artwork, and software are provided for using the service. These terms do not transfer ownership or grant a right to resell them. Other rights holders retain their rights. Tell us if you believe content infringes your rights.
05Rewards and classroom powers
Gold, XP, points, Pactlings, items, and cosmetic unlocks are features of the classroom experience. They have no cash value, cannot be redeemed for money, and are not student purchases. Classroom powers require the teacher’s approval and remain subject to school rules.
Game balance and features may change during the pilot. We may correct errors or improperly awarded progress. There is no student payment checkout. Any future paid educator plan would be presented separately with its price and terms before billing begins.
06Personal data and optional services
The Privacy Notice describes the records used, class visibility, providers, processing locations, and data-request process. These terms do not waive anyone’s personal-data rights.
AI is optional. Teachers can connect their own OpenAI API account to generate lesson drafts. OpenAI API usage is billed separately by OpenAI and is subject to its terms. Teachers choose what lesson material to send, must have permission to use it, and should exclude student personal details. Review all generated questions, answers, vocabulary, and stories for accuracy and suitability before saving them for a class.
07A service being tested
This is a pilot. Features, availability, and game progress may be affected by bugs, maintenance, or changes. We cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free operation or a particular learning result. Keep separate copies of essential lessons and school records; do not rely on the game as the only record of assessment or attendance.
We will make reasonable efforts to investigate reported problems and communicate significant interruptions. Nothing in these terms excludes responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded or limits a right or remedy required by applicable law.
08Leaving or pausing the pilot
You may stop using the service and contact support@pactlingacademy.com to request account closure, data access, or deletion. Removing a student from a class preserves their account; deletion is a separate action. The retention section explains records that can remain and how to request broader removal.
We may restrict access to address misuse, security concerns, or legal requirements. Where appropriate, we will explain the issue and allow a reasonable opportunity to resolve it. If the pilot ends, we will notify participating teachers and provide a way to request their data and closure. Any necessary retained records remain subject to the Privacy Notice and applicable law.
09Questions and changes
Contact support@pactlingacademy.com first if a problem or concern arises. These pilot terms are written for a Taiwan-based service and do not remove mandatory protections or rights to seek assistance from the appropriate authority or court.
We will post changes with a new effective date and notify participating teachers of material changes before they apply. If you do not wish to continue under changed terms, contact us to arrange closure and any data request. A broader launch, school agreement, or paid plan may require separate terms.
